Here is my shopping list I made for the zoo. We had different menu's for different animals. We had to work out how many of each thing on the menu's of each animal in a week.

Note Taking

In reading we are learning to take notes. When you take notes you have to right key worrd not full sentances. Here is my notes that I took.

Shells:

Shells protect predators, strong currents,storms. Hermit crabs change shell every time, grow bigger.

Scales:

Fish covered scales, layer of slime to help move water. reptile full scales.

What makes a reptile a reptile?

Chapter 22 - Best Weekend

The Best Weekend

Sausage sizzle, playing in  the park and getting wet with a sprinkler. Yup thats what I did in the weekend. First it started with my brother yelling out loud trying to wake me up. Cereal went into my tummy and after a winki of my eye it was lunch time. We settled down in the front yard and had a sausage sizzle. We put our bicycles in the car boot and headed of the shop. We ate with my dad. Soon my dad took us to the park where we rode our bicycles, played on sing and flying fox and went down the slide a couple of times. When we came home we turned  on the sprinkler and got blasted with icy water. It really hit the spot. We ended the day with a nice indian movie. That’s what you call the perfect weekend.

Chapter 21 - Coding

Coding

Dear Buddy

I was so thrilled to learn to code which is all about technology in computers. Coding is the language of computers. We learnt how to tell the computer to do something when a button is pressed. We used the website called code.org. There were so many hour of codes to do. I did the Minecraft one. It was so fun. There were 14 levels to do. When I did all the mind blowing, tricky levels I got a certificate. I did more hour of codes later on in the day and earned even more certificates. Coding is very easy after I did lots of hour of codes. But sometimes it’s really hard. Like when I was doing a level I had to make my character turnaround 20 times instead  I made it go forwards and backwards 20 times. But anyways coding is heaps of fun. Will you try the hour of code Jazzmeet?

Did you know that there a millions of jobs for people but no one understands coding?

Chapter 20 - Cough

My Brother’s Cough

Question marks ran through my head as my mum told me that my brother has got Asthma.

“ But he’s only three” I said. My mum explained to me that Asthma can start at any age, and since he is small and if we look after him the Asthma will go away. She also said that my brother’s Asthma started with a loud cough. My weekend started with seeing my mum cleaning out her room, making sure that there was no dust by My brother’s bed. As she started to vacuum the room “ CCCCC RRRRR AAACCC K!!” the vacuum broke.
“ Looks like we're going to need a new vacuum !” I said before bursting into a long laugh.

“HAHAHAHA!!”

Chapter 19 - Fireworks

My Firework Fantasy

Dear Jazzmeet

BOOM! BANG!  BOOM! colourful fireworks fill the dark sky. Our family did not  buy fireworks we just watched the shooting fireworks burst in the sky. There were blue ones, red ones, yellow ones, green ones, silver ones too. My favourite firework was the one that shot up into the sky and popped and then all the leftover fire crystals burst into blue flowers. It was so pretty and loud! I really enjoyed watching the fireworks bloom in the sky. But there was one problem every time I looked through the window there was nothing and everytime I sat down they would pop in the sky. I was running from this window to the other window.  Soon it was time for bed. It was hard for me to fall asleep with all the BOOMING! and BANGING! but I fell asleep after a short while or a long while. But I fell asleep in the end. Guy Fawkes was awesome.

Letter To Buddy - Weekend

Dear Buddy,

In  the weekend I sort of had fun or you could say I was creeped out. It all started when I woke up from sleeping the whole night then the creepy stuff happened. Oh and I forgot to tell you earlier it was the spookiest night of the year, HALLOWEEN!! As soon as the sun set it was pitch dark and all you could hear was a creepy witch laugh outside. “HAHAHAHAHA” My  mum and I stayed up late watching horror movies, and then the witch laugh stopped. I peered through the window and I saw a person with a axe and no head. It came in the movie that we just watched.

“THE HEADLESS WOODCUTTER!!!” I screamed. My mum started to laugh and giggle.
“ Why are you laughing when  the headless wood cutter is coming to kill us?”

“ Because it’s your dad , he is wearing a headless wood cutter Costume” My mum said.

My dad came in the house and was pretending to be  headless wood cutter.

“ If that was dad then who is the person at the back?”

DON DON DON!!!!!

No No don’t get really worried. I was just joking I had a great weekend without creepy stuff.

Chapter 17 - Letter

Letter to buddy

Dear Jazzmeet I am really missing you. My everyday life is feeling different, I think it’s because you’re not here with us. You were a part of my everyday life because every morning when you arrived at school we would greet each other, we used to play together at break and I always do fun stuff with you. Things have really been strange since you're gone like everyone in the class is quiet on the mat and eat silently at lunchtime since there's no one to tell silly stories and jokes to make the whole class laugh and the neighbors never ever say Hello or go on their morning jog as usual. I really miss you Jazzmeet  I hope you come back soon.

Oh and one more important thing Miss Fetherpin is giving us silly homework like write a story about a banana since she ran out of ideas and you weren’t there to think of something out of the box.  I think she really misses you too. `

Chapter 16 - Kiwi sports

Kiwi Sports

I  was so excited for Kiwi Sports. My day was going well. But it all turned around. My smile also turned up side down. I found out that Kiwi Sports was CANCELLED!!! I was so sad. Soon my smile returned when I realised that we’re  going to Kiwi Sports on Thursday.

When School finished I went home and told Aunty everything before she could ask.

“ At least you’re still going.” Said Aunty Sue.

“ Yeah”

After a while I realised It was time for bed so I plopped myself into bed and slept, thinking about what Thursday would be like.

Today we were learning about code and how it is so important to understand coding. We went on

 code.org  to do the 1 hour of code activity. I did the Mindcraft one. It was so cool. I leart alot about codes. Did you know that there are lots of jobs out there but all the jobs require people that understand code, and lots of people don't know about it. Coding is a coputer language. When you put a code in your computer you are telling it what to do.

Chapter 14 - The Weekend

Weekend

On the incredible weekend I played in the wonderful playground. There was a flying fox and a slide and a can’t forget  about the fun swings. My favorite thing was the flying fox, especially when Aunty Sue pushed me very fast. I played there for a while then I saw Grandma wave and say

“come on Jazz!”

I ran over to grandma and then we headed home for lunch. Grandma made a yummy soup that comes from Pocahontas. It’s called Halim. It was very spicy, I also loved the meat pieces that were hidden away in the soup. Soon I was relaxing on the sofa and watching TV. I watched Spongebob Squarepants and Icarly. The time flew by as fast as lightning and before I knew it it was time for dinner. We had the leftover soup from lunch. We were soon watching a english movie. It was so funny. The movie finished around about midnight. I bounced onto my bed and I fell into a deep sleep. I slept for ages, actually till eleven thirty the next morning.

Chapter 13 - Expariment

Experiment With Sally

As I entered the classroom I noticed on the whiteboard in bright, green, bold writing the magnificent SALLY WAS COMING!,  I jumped with joy and excitement. Sally came into our extraordinary class to do a experiment with us. She told us to get into a group of four so me Victoria, Sophia and Daniel became a group. Each of us had  a number, I was lucky number two.

I had to bring the cup with the water and yellow food colouring to mix it. It had no salt in it and it was as yellow as an egg yolk. Next Ashley got the one with red food coloring in. It was as red as blood. It had one teaspoon of salt in it. The red food colouring did not mix as fast as the yellow food coloring. It’s because the water was more denser with the salt. Next Daniel brought the one with blue food colouring. It was as blue as the ocean. It had two teaspoons of salt, that meant that the water was really dense and the blue would not mix.

Next we got some tubes. Sophia was first at using them. She took one and put it into the yellow one and then covered the other end with her thumb. She did the same with all colours. The colours did not mix with each other when she held it straight, but when she put it sideways it turned into a yucky brown. We all had turns mixing colours together. I mixed blue and red to make a fantastic purple. Then I mixed blue and yellow to make a wonderful green. Then I mixed red and yellow to make incredible orange. My tube turned into a magical rainbow. I thought that the experiment that we did  was great.

Chapter 12 - Holidays

Buddy In The Holidays

“Wow! look at all the birds.” I said in amazement. They were so many Ducks, Goose and black swans at Western Springs. I looked around and saw some cute baby ducklings. They were very fluffy and lemon yellow. We went walking down the path and saw some cool rivers. We fed the birds lots of yummy bread. But as soon as my packet of bread got finished all the birds looked at me. The birds were not cute any more they were scary monsters. I quickly turned around and ran away, but the annoying birds kept following me. As I ran I saw a path going straight and one going left. I went left and the birds did not see me and thought I went straight so they ran off. I found Aunty Sue and we went to the park. It was really fun. There was a cool swing and this spinning ride that you can sit on. Soon we were hungry so we found a nice, sunny, warm place to have a picnic. We had yummy chicken sandwiches and tasty mango juice and a wonderful chocolate cake. I was stuffed but I saved a very tiny place in my stomach for Ice Cream later on. We realised that it was getting late so we came home for some time to relax. I jumped onto the sofa and fell into a deep sleep. When I woke up It was time for dinner. Aunty had made yummy BBQ chops and mashed potato. “MMMMMMMM this is delicious” I said with my mouth full of mashed potato. Later on that night we had ice cream. It was my favourite flavour      “Peaches and cream”. Soon it was time for bed. I was really tired even though I had a long nap. I am never ever ever going to change my mind about not going to western springs again. I had nightmares about the birds at Western Springs chasing me around.

Chapter 11 - Day 3 At School

As soon as I came to school I read the time table. First a guy from ASB bank was going to come and teach us about being wise with money. It was really fun and exciting. Next Mr Tech came to teach us how to make a Thank you comic for the school who did the production. Then it was morning tea. I played with all my new friends. They names are Jumaanah, Rocksana and Sophia. Soon it was time to go back to class. We were finishing off our comics. After that we were putting our best dressed buddy on a piece of paper with their name on it. My one is on a green paper with her name written fancy. After a while off work the choir had to go to practices. So it was just a few people left in class. We carried on with our work and then it was lunch. Long after the bell was gone we were in class writing our buddy story. Mine is really going well. After a few minutes of hard work we cleaned up the mess that was made. Next we sat on the mat and we were told to go home. I rushed home and  before Aunty could say hello I was telling her all about my wonderful day. She said I could at least say hello before bursting into my stories. I apologised and said hello. After dinner I did my homework and went to sleep in my warm and soft bed.

Chapter 10 - Day 2 At School

I woke up and did not waste time to get ready, and soon I was saying goodbye and leaving the house. I finally arrived at  school with happiness and excitement. I wonder what we’ll be doing today. I hope we do more art. I ran up the stairs and I rushed into class.

“ Good morning  Miss Featherpin” I said

“ Hello Jazzmeet, how are you today?” She replied

“ I’m feeling great” I said

“ Well that’s good” She replied

“ Here is your chromebook and charger. Please take care of it” She said with a smile.

“ Thank you” I said. I took my chromebook from her hands and put it my desk.  After the bell rang the teacher took the roll and we got straight into writing about our buddy. My buddys name is Jazmin just like my mum. Right now it’s her first day at school. I was excited about going to another school to see a production. It was soooo cool. It was about world war 1 and 2. I loved it. When we came back it was nearly home time. The day went so fast. We packed up the classroom and soon  Miss Featherpin let us go home. I told Aunty and Grandma all about my cool day at school. Now it’s time for bed. “ Yawn”

Chapter 9 - First Day At School

My First Day At May Road School

As we entered the school office a kind lady came up to us. I thought that she was the office lady her name was Miss Witherspoon. She said that I was going to a class called Smarties. I think they named that class that because they have a lot of smart children? I thought. The Teacher that I will have is Miss Featherpin. I wonder what class my neighbor Jumaanah is in? I hope she’s in my class.

We went down a few corridors and up some stairs. There were two classes, which one was mine? I thought to myself. Finally I saw a arrow sign saying “ Smarties.” The arrow was pointing to the class on my right. I was so nervous. My heart was beating faster than a cheetah. I had butterflies in my stomach. I saw lots of kids in the class room. Miss Witherspoon told me to hang up my bag over there.

After a few minutes the bell rang. “ BB RRRRR IIIII NN GG!!!!”  That was loud. Soon all the noise of the children talking disappeared and it was complete silence. Everyone was looking at me like I was some sort of alien. I sat down right at the back and waited for the teacher like everyone else. Soon Miss Fetherpin came along. “ Good Morning class” she said in a sweet voice. Everyone replied like this “ Good morning Miss Featherpin”  Miss Featherpin introduced me to the class and gave me a buddy that would show me around.

“ Woo Hoo my buddy is Jumaanah” I thought to myself. I finally found out what we were going to do it  was art day.  I was so excited. I don’t feel nervous anymore. I think I will do good in this class. For the whole day block we were making our dioramas. Dioramas is a model representing a scene. Mine is a bedroom. I used different materials to make a bed and curtains. I made a wardrobe as well. At the end of the day we all had a diorama. Miss Featherpin hung them up on the big long beam. I made a lot of new friends at morning tea and lunch. Soon the bell rang for hometime.

Chapter 8 - Coming To School

Coming To School

As Grandma, Aunty and I walked through the school gates and entered the office I had a big flashback on the drama that happened this morning. It all started when I heard my annoying alarm clock. BEEEP! BEEEP! BEEEP! Everything was going fine and I thought that we would be on time. But I thought too soon.

I found Grandma and Aunty sleeping peacefully. I woke them up and we headed outside.

Then Grandma had forgotten to pack me a lunch. So then Grandma said she would come to school later on and give me my lunch. But then I realized that I did not take my thing I needed for school and most importantly I did not have a school bag. We rushed to a store called “ The Warehouse” and got a school bag. I chose the bag with the blue and pink checks.  So finally we drove of to school. Plus we were on time.

Chapter 7 - Neighbours, Neighbourhood, Park & Shop

Neighbours, Neighbourhood, Park & Shop:

Today I met both the neighbours. They are very nice. One of the neighbours are a family of four. The neighbor's daughter was very kind her name was Jumaanah and she is going to the school I am going to go. I think that me and her are going to get along very well . The other neighbours have seven people living with them. That’s a big family! They also have a daughter and her name is Zoya. Me and her could  be best friends.

I decided to look around the neighbourhood. All of the houses were different shapes and sizes.  Tall ones, short ones, fat ones, narrow ones and more. After 5 minutes of walking I came to a shop. There were a lot of different things to buy. But then I realised that I did not have any NZ money. So I left the shop with a sad face. As I stepped out of the shop I heard lots of children. I walked a little further and saw a nice looking park. There was a slide, some swings and some other cool stuff to play on. It was great fun.

Soon I realised that it was getting late so I headed home.  Once I got home I decided to get ready for school tomorrow. I was making sure I  have everything I need. I just needed a school bag. Grandma said she would get me a bag.   Now I was ready for school. Soon it was bedtime and before I knew it I was into a deep sleep.

Chapter 6 - My New house In New Zealand

My New House In New Zealand

The driver pulled up in front of a three bedroom house. I think it’s the house we rented. We took our bags and paid the taxi driver as I stepped out of my car. I stared at the white foot path leading to the white stairs ending at a white glass door. It was so amazing soooo much better than the house that we owned. I rushed inside to explore the enchanting house. I thought that the house would be white on the inside as well.

But I was wrong the kitchen was orange, the bathroom was purple, the lounge was green, one room was blue, one room was gold and cream and the last room was pink. As I came back to the kitchen I immediately saw the yummy food on the table. I grabbed an apple as I bit into it I realized that it was fake. “ Ewww why would anyone have fake fruit?” I said “ Maybe it is because it’s for decoration?” Aunty Sue said. I walked around the house to see which room I would like. I picked the one with the gold and Cream wallpaper. It was the best one in the house. I loved it. I dropped my bags and jumped onto the soft bed.

I soon felt hungry so I raced to the kitchen to see what was there. I took out a bag of potato chips and when I took the first bite I was taken into a wonderful chippy land. The taste was sensational. It was much better that the chips in Pocahontas. I turned the Tv on and flicked through the channels. I found a cartoon channel. Spongebob SquarePants was on. I love that show. I never knew that other countries would have the same TV shows.  I am so excited for the next day. I don’t know why? I think it is because I will wake up it a different country. I just can’t stop thinking about these magical doors. I can’t wait to tell grandpa. I was lying on the bed when I realized that  I have so many questions to ask about this country like…

• Does this country have a Queen?
• Is there a national language

Chapter 5 - Leaving Pocahontas and coming to New Zealand

Leaving Pocahontas and coming to New Zealand:

WOOO HOOO! I’m on a plane going to New Zealand, BOOO HOO! I left grandad and Uncle at the airport. All of this started when I came home from school and heard Aunty Sue and Grandma Molly talking about going on a plane to New Zealand. I was so excited. But why New Zealand? Aunty Sue said that in NZ they have digital learning and that I won’t have to suffer with cramping hands.

Anyway Grandpa and Uncle was not able to come. Grandma Molly said that Grandpa and Uncle will look after the house while we’re gone. Soon I here the Flight Attendant call “ Please remain seated and fasten your seatbelts because we are going to land”

Chapter 4 - My School Life

My School Life:

My school starts at 7am and ends at 1pm. In school we have to use pencil and paper. My hands cramp with all the writing we do in a day. In a long school day we do Writing, Reading, Maths, Art, PE and Life Skills. My favorite subject is Art of course. I love to do Physical education because our PE teacher is very funny. He gives us cool homework like do 15 star jumps or run for 10 minutes.  My favorite thing to  do in PE is play Great wall. It is very fun. I also love writing because I like to write stories with my imagination like the story I wrote about a old lady who lived on an alien planet, but then the aliens turned out to be zombies and they wanted to eat her brain, but then they realised that they would have to split the brain into 10549 equal pieces since there were that many of them. I don’t have enough time to tell you  that story because it is 65 pages long. But anyways you can see  I do a lot of work in a day.

Chapter 3 - Personality

Chapter - Personality

I love to compete in swimming competitions I won 2 races already. I go to swimming practices every Saturday. Grandma says it is important that I learn to swim, so I don’t drown in case of an emergency like a tsunami.  

I love to do art in my spare time, like my mum used too. I paint realistic paintings of gardens and mountains and anything I see.  I also love to study nature and animals, my dad loved doing that. One of my favourite animals to work on is the rare Now You See Me Now You Don’t Frog. I finally found out why they call it that because it camouflages only when it is happy and then it sings a song, it goes like this… Now You See Me Now You Don’t,   Now You See Me Now You Don’t, Now You See Me Now You Don’t, Now You See Me Now You Don’t. Now enough of singing frogs.

I do part time jobs like taking the neighbor's dog for a walk or weeding Mr Robinson's garden and a lot more. I have 2 best friends. There names are Susan and Emily.

We love to have sleepovers, We have a lot of fun together. We each have a friendship bracelet that we wear everyday mine is pink ( my favourite colour). Emily’s is purple and Susan’s is blue.

I love doing fitness. I always take long walks around the beach then I run down town till the supermarket. Then at exactly 2:15 in the afternoon my Grandma gives me a call to tell me that I need to buy bread. I’m always right next to the supermarket when she gives me the call. Sometimes I burst out laughing.

Chapter 2 - Family

My mother Jasmin passed away when I was 5 years old in a car accident my dad Bryan survived. She was very funny and cool. Everytime I feel sad she used to make me laugh. I don’t remember her a lot. I love her she was the best.

My dad is also gone to a better place a few years after my mother. He died of sadness and guilt. He was the one who tucked me in my bed every day. I miss him alot. Now I live with Aunty Sue and Grandma Molly, Uncle Bob and Grandpa Scott. They look after me very well I love them with all my heart. I am the only child so my Aunty and Uncle spoil me a lot.  My family is the best. Grandma and Grandpa tell me lots of cool stories of my mum and dad.
